A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the applicability of the law governing a grant program |
|
|
for public improvement projects for unincorporated communities in |
|
|
certain counties. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 388.001, Local Government Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 388.001. APPLICABILITY. This chapter applies only |
|
|
to: |
|
|
(1) a county that: |
|
|
(A) [(1)] has a population of less [not more] |
|
|
than 3,000; |
|
|
(B) [(2)] is adjacent to at least three counties |
|
|
with populations of less than 10,000; and |
|
|
(C) [(3)] is located on an international border; |
|
|
and |
|
|
(2) a county that: |
|
|
(A) has a population of less than 7,000; |
|
|
(B) is adjacent to not more than two counties, |
|
|
each with populations of less than 10,000; and |
|
|
(C) is located on an international border. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
