A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to expedited driver's license office appointments for |
|
|
active duty members of the United States armed forces. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 521.002, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 521.002. CONVENIENCE TO PUBLIC. (a) The department |
|
|
shall implement its duties under this chapter in the manner that |
|
|
provides the greatest convenience to the public. |
|
|
(b) The department by rule shall establish a system to |
|
|
provide each person who is on active duty in the United States armed |
|
|
forces the opportunity to receive an expedited same-day appointment |
|
|
at a driver's license office on a walk-in basis. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
