CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The Junior League of Midland is celebrating 75 years
  of service to the community in 2024; and
         WHEREAS, Originally known as the Midland Service League, the
  Junior League of Midland was founded in 1949 with the mission to
  advance women's leadership through volunteer action,
  collaboration, and training; in 1964, it was officially admitted as
  the 195th league in the Association of Junior Leagues, and over the
  years, it has amassed an impressive record of community service and
  supported countless individuals and families in need; today, the
  organization counts nearly 600 members who annually donate more
  than 16,000 hours of service; and
         WHEREAS, Among its many initiatives, the Junior League offers
  an after-school reading program at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the
  Permian Basin in Midland, and it holds weekly workshops as part of
  its Suits with Skills project, which provides job-skills mentoring
  for female survivors of domestic abuse; in 2017, the organization
  partnered with Communities in Schools of the Permian Basin to
  create IMPACT yearlong mentoring programming for local at-risk
  students; moreover, the group's most recent endeavor, Pink Pantry,
  provides feminine and basic hygiene supplies to students at several
  Midland Independent School District schools; and
         WHEREAS, Over the past 75 years, the people of Midland have
  been fortunate to benefit from the far-reaching contributions of
  the Junior League, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring the
  group's proud tradition of leadership, service, and civic
  engagement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby commend the Junior League of Midland for its exemplary
  record of service and that all those associated with the
  organization be extended sincere best wishes for continued success
  with their important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Junior League of Midland as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
