R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Karla Garza of VMK Concrete has distinguished
  herself through her professional achievements; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Garza and her husband, Victor, established VMK
  Concrete in 2023, and under their able leadership, the business has
  grown to become a successful ready-mix concrete supplier in the Rio
  Grande Valley; today, VMK companies encompass five enterprises and
  100 employees; and
         WHEREAS, A pioneering figure in the concrete industry,
  Mrs. Garza was elected to the Texas Aggregates & Concrete
  Association board of directors in 2024, and she has been nominated
  to the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association board, becoming
  the first Hispanic woman to realize those accomplishments; in
  addition, she has served as director of suppliers for the Rio Grande
  Valley Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Garza has been involved in numerous community
  projects, including mentorship programs for young women pursuing
  careers in construction; she has also played an instrumental role
  in establishing the VMK Concrete scholarship initiatives, which
  support students in high school and college; and
         WHEREAS, In recognition of her efforts, Mrs. Garza was named
  the Architecture/Engineering/Construction Woman of the Year at the
  2024 Luna Awards ceremony hosted by the Regional Hispanic
  Contractors Association; she is a first-generation college
  graduate and an alumna of the Texas A&M University Mays Business
  School; and
         WHEREAS, Karla Garza has set an inspiring example of
  leadership in her field and in her community, and the citizens of
  the Rio Grande Valley are indeed fortunate to count her among their
  fellow residents; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Karla Garza for her professional
  achievements and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Garza as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
