R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Karla Garza of VMK Concrete has distinguished |
|
|
herself through her professional achievements; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Garza and her husband, Victor, established VMK |
|
|
Concrete in 2023, and under their able leadership, the business has |
|
|
grown to become a successful ready-mix concrete supplier in the Rio |
|
|
Grande Valley; today, VMK companies encompass five enterprises and |
|
|
100 employees; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A pioneering figure in the concrete industry, |
|
|
Mrs. Garza was elected to the Texas Aggregates & Concrete |
|
|
Association board of directors in 2024, and she has been nominated |
|
|
to the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association board, becoming |
|
|
the first Hispanic woman to realize those accomplishments; in |
|
|
addition, she has served as director of suppliers for the Rio Grande |
|
|
Valley Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Garza has been involved in numerous community |
|
|
projects, including mentorship programs for young women pursuing |
|
|
careers in construction; she has also played an instrumental role |
|
|
in establishing the VMK Concrete scholarship initiatives, which |
|
|
support students in high school and college; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In recognition of her efforts, Mrs. Garza was named |
|
|
the Architecture/Engineering/Construction Woman of the Year at the |
|
|
2024 Luna Awards ceremony hosted by the Regional Hispanic |
|
|
Contractors Association; she is a first-generation college |
|
|
graduate and an alumna of the Texas A&M University Mays Business |
|
|
School; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Karla Garza has set an inspiring example of |
|
|
leadership in her field and in her community, and the citizens of |
|
|
the Rio Grande Valley are indeed fortunate to count her among their |
|
|
fellow residents; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Karla Garza for her professional |
|
|
achievements and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mrs. Garza as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
