R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The observance of Black Lawyers & Students Day at
  the State Capitol on April 8, 2025, provides a fitting opportunity
  to honor The Barbara Jordan Leadership Institute; and
         WHEREAS, Founded and led by Black women, BJLI is a
  nonpartisan organization that empowers current and future
  generations of Black civic leaders and professionals; through voter
  education, advocacy, and leadership development, the group equips
  individuals with the tools they need to make a positive difference
  in their communities; and
         WHEREAS, Demonstrating a steadfast commitment to the values
  of fairness and justice, BJLI offers a variety of mentorship,
  career development, and leadership programs to help promote
  diversity and community engagement; the organization also works to
  uplift and amplify the voices of citizens as well as advance health
  equity and economic justice; and
         WHEREAS, BJLI has played an instrumental role in expanding
  opportunities for Black Americans who seek to build a brighter
  future for themselves and their communities, and it is a pleasure to
  join in honoring the organization for its many contributions; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize April 8, 2025, as Black Lawyers &
  Students Day at the State Capitol and commend all those associated
  with The Barbara Jordan Leadership Institute for their important
  work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for BJLI as an expression of high regard by the Texas House
  of Representatives.
