R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Admired educator Sallye R. Moore of Grand Prairie
  passed away on April 15, 2025, at the age of 91; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Edward and Lillie Mae Johnson, the
  former Sallye Johnson was born in Waco on May 30, 1933, and she grew
  up with the companionship of three younger siblings, Eddie, Lee,
  and Carl; after graduating from Paul Quinn College at the age of 19,
  she began teaching in Slaton; during this period, she married
  Vandine Moore, and they were blessed with a son, Gregory; the
  devoted couple shared a fulfilling marriage of 70 years until
  Mr. Moore's death in 2023; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Moore taught high school English, social
  studies, and history at the all-Black Dalworth School in Grand
  Prairie and eventually earned her master of education degree from
  Prairie View A&M University; following integration, she served as a
  teacher and counselor at Grand Prairie High School; she went on to
  become principal of Dalworth Elementary School, where she
  established honors, early childhood, and special education
  programs, as well as others; she was later named director of
  curriculum and instruction for the Grand Prairie Independent School
  District and rose to associate superintendent; throughout more than
  four decades in education, Mrs. Moore was a tireless champion of
  students, encouraging them to follow their dreams; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Moore also benefited the wider community by
  serving as chair of the Grand Prairie Civil Service Commission and
  as president of both the Grand Prairie Federation of Women's Clubs
  and the Grand Prairie Park Board; in addition, she was a founding
  member of the Mid-Cities Chapter of the Links, Incorporated, and an
  active member of Soroptomist International of Grand Prairie and of
  the Beta Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority; a woman of
  faith, she served St. John Church in numerous capacities; in 2001,
  Grand Prairie ISD named an elementary campus in her honor, and her
  many accolades included the 1991 Leadership Award from the Texas
  Council of Women School Executives, the 1985 Citizen of the Year
  Award from the Chamber of Commerce, and a Distinguished Alumni
  award from Waco ISD; and
         WHEREAS, Sallye Moore enriched the lives of innumerable
  people through her professional and civic contributions, and
  although she is deeply missed, she will forever be a source of
  inspiration to those she leaves behind; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Sallye R. Moore and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her son,
  Gregory Dean Moore Sr. and his wife, Juna Jones-Moore; to her
  grandsons, Gregory Dean Moore II and his wife, Lorena Lopez Moore,
  and Preston Andrew Moore; to her great-grandchildren, Clara Laniah
  Moore, Cameron Preston Moore, and Cortez Miguel Moore; and to her
  many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sallye
  Moore.
