A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to limitations on the information contained on a consumer |
|
|
report furnished by a consumer reporting agency. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 20.05, Business & Commerce Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(a-1) A consumer reporting agency may not furnish a consumer |
|
|
report containing information related to an eviction suit brought |
|
|
under Chapter 24, Property Code, in which the date of final |
|
|
disposition of the suit predates the consumer report by more than |
|
|
seven years. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
|
to a consumer report furnished on or after the effective date of |
|
|
this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
