AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the acquisition of land and facilities by the Texas |
|
|
State Technical College System. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 135.02(c), Education Code, is amended to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
(c) The board may accept or acquire by purchase in the name |
|
|
of the State of Texas land and facilities in any of the counties in |
|
|
which a campus or extension center is located. [The coordinating |
|
|
board must review and approve the acceptance or acquisition of any |
|
|
land and facilities if: |
|
|
[(1) the board of regents requests to place the land |
|
|
and facilities on its educational and general buildings and |
|
|
facilities inventory; and |
|
|
[(2) the combined value of the land and facilities is |
|
|
more than $300,000 at the time the board of regents requests the |
|
|
property to be added to the educational and general buildings and |
|
|
facilities inventory.] |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
