SENATE RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join the citizens of Hill County in celebrating Hill County Day
  at the State Capitol on March 19, 2025; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1853, Hill County was named for
  George Washington Hill, who served on the cabinet of Republic of
  Texas President Sam Houston; and
         WHEREAS, Hillsboro serves as the county seat and is home to
  the 66th District Court; the county courthouse features
  floorboards obtained from the State Capitol, and the former jail
  building that once held Elvis Presley now serves as a museum; and
         WHEREAS, The county's rich heritage includes the
  birthplace of legendary musician Willie Nelson in the City of
  Abbott, and residents benefit from the exemplary educational
  opportunities offered by Hill College; and
         WHEREAS, Visitors to Hill County appreciate the area's
  unique museums and antique stores, and outdoor enthusiasts enjoy
  recreational activities at Lake Whitney State Park and Aquilla
  Lake, including fishing for the abundant bass, crappie, and
  catfish; the region is also known for its sprawling live oak and
  pecan trees and its flourishing wildlife; and
         WHEREAS, The residents of Hill County are devoted to their
  communities and cherish the amenities and natural resources that
  help make it a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family,
  and they can take justifiable pride in their exemplary efforts to
  preserve the area's vibrant history and ensure the county will
  continue to thrive long into the future; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, hereby commend the people of Hill County on their
  many contributions to the Lone Star State and extend to all best
  wishes for a memorable Hill County Day at the Capitol; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the county as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
