SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 493
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Charles L. Fisher
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Charles L. Fisher, who died
  December 31, 2024, at the age of 88; and
         WHEREAS, Charles Fisher was born on April 22, 1936, in
  Marshall; he served as captain of the football and baseball teams
  at Pemberton High School, and he went on to attend Prairie View
  A&M University, where he was an outstanding wide receiver and
  played for the 1958 National Championship team; while performing
  on the university's football, baseball, and track teams, he
  earned a bachelor's degree in industrial arts and later completed
  a master's degree in educational administration; after college,
  he served the nation with distinction in the United States Army
  for two years; and
         WHEREAS, Charles devoted the majority of his exemplary
  career to serving as a teacher, coach, and school
  administrator with the Dallas Independent School District, and
  he was proud to conclude his tenure as an educator by serving
  as principal of L. G. Pinkston High School; he was passionate
  about helping young citizens reach their full potential, and
  he was a trusted role model and mentor to countless students
  and district colleagues; and
         WHEREAS, Charles served as a member of many professional
  and civic organizations, and he received extensive accolades for
  his personal and professional achievements as well as his
  contributionstohiscommunity;inhisfreetime,heenjoyed
  his involvement with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and became a
  skilled hunter and fisherman; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Charles shared 61 years of
  marriage with his cherished wife, Shirley; he was a loving father
  to his daughter, Shawn, and his granddaughters, Tristan and
  Trinity, enriched his life immeasurably; and
         WHEREAS, Charles Fisher was a celebrated athlete and a
  highly esteemed educator who inspired his friends and loved ones
  through his warmth and generosity and his steadfast dedication to
  family, faith, and community, and he will long be remembered with
  admiration and appreciation by all who were privileged to share
  in his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Charles L. Fisher; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Charles Fisher.
