The fiscal implications of the bill cannot be determined at this time due to the unknown number of events that could be ineligible for funding.

This bill would amend Chapter 478 of the Government Code (Major Events Reimbursement Program) to make an event ineligible for funding under the provisions of Chapter 478 if the event allows for a biological male to compete in a sport designated by rule or procedure for female athletes. Status as a biological male would be determined based on documentation as stipulated by the bill.

The number of events that could be ineligible for funding, as well as associated levels of funding, are unknown; consequently, the fiscal impact on the state cannot be estimated.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
