No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to extend expunction of arrest records and files to certain defendants placed on deferred adjudication community supervision for the unlawful carrying of a handgun. 

The Department of Public Safety anticipates an increased caseload to process expunction orders. The analysis assumes any cost associated with an increased caseload at DPS could be absorbed within existing resources.

According to the Office of Court Administration, although the bill may generate new case filings for expunction orders, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated. 

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
