No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the offense of failure to stop or report aggravated assault of a child, creating the amended offense of hindering investigation or prosecution of certain sexual offenses committed against a child.
The bill specifies that the offense is committed when an actor 17 years of age or older fails to report certain sexual offenses against a child and engages in certain conduct with the intent to hinder the investigation or prosecution of the sexual offense. It further specifies that the criminal penalty for the offense is a third degree felony which can be increased to a second degree felony if the actor's failure to report the sexual offense enables or facilitates a person's commission of a subsequent sexual offense against a child.
It is assumed that any fiscal impact and any impact on state correctional populations or on the demand for state correctional resources would not be significant.

It is assumed that any fiscal impact to units of local government associated with enforcement, prosecution, supervision, or confinement would not be significant.
