LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 89TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 17, 2025

TO:
Honorable Gary VanDeaver, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB5141 by Howard (Relating to the lease of certain state property from the Department of State Health Services to Travis County.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The Department of State Health Services would assume no fiscal impact from the bill because the agency previously transferred control of Austin State Hospital, its property, and improvements to the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC).

It is assumed that any costs associated with the bill for HHSC could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
