SB1313 by Cook (Relating to prohibited signs, logos, and designs in advertising or marketing cigarettes, e-cigarettes, or other tobacco products; creating a criminal offense.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would create the Class B misdemeanor offense of prohibited images and signage, committed when a retailer promotes tobacco products or e-cigarettes by means of a sign, logo, or other design mark having certain features, including but not limited to an appeal to minors, or when such a retailer uses decorative components to give the exterior of the retailer's premises the appearance of a nightclub or game room.
While the number of offenses that would be committed is unknown, it is assumed that any fiscal impact and any impact on state correctional populations or on the demand for state correctional resources would not be significant.
Local Government Impact
It is assumed that any fiscal impact to units of local government associated with enforcement, prosecution, supervision, or confinement would not be significant.
