Enrolled Bill Summary

House Bill 1306 amends the Government Code and Labor Code to extend certain benefits currently available to public safety employees and first responders to justices of the peace, county medical examiners and employees of a county medical examiner's office, and death investigators employed by a county's office of death investigator; to make the survivors of such death investigation professionals who died as a result of a personal injury sustained in the line of duty eligible for financial assistance under applicable state law; to provide for the prioritization of a death investigation professional's claim for medical benefits; and to entitle a death investigation professional to review of a medical dispute in the manner provided under state law for judicial review of a contested case.
