House Bill 14 amends the Government Code to establish the Texas Advanced Nuclear Energy Office to, among other objectives, lead the transition to a balanced energy future by advancing innovative nuclear energy generation technologies while delivering safe, reliable, and clean energy solutions that address the state's growing demand. The bill provides for the administration and duties of the office and authorizes the director of the office to employ a nuclear permitting coordinator to assist businesses throughout the nuclear energy permitting and regulatory process.
House Bill 14 creates the Texas Advanced Nuclear Development Fund as a dedicated account in the general revenue fund and provides for the use of money in the fund. The bill also establishes the following grant programs:
