Legislative Session: 79(R)House Bill 1813 amends the Alcoholic Beverage Code and the Penal Code to allow the possession of a handgun on the premises of certain alcoholic beverage license or permit holders if such possession is for the purpose of a historical reenactment authorized by the Alcoholic Beverage Commission. The bill amends the Alcoholic Beverage Code to require the commission to adopt rules allowing such reenactments and prohibiting the use of live ammunition in the reenactments. It provides that a permit or an on-premises or off-premises license will not be canceled because the holder knowingly allowed the possession of a firearm in a building on the licensed premises for such a reenactment. The bill amends the Penal Code to exempt a person licensed to carry a concealed handgun from the prohibition against carrying such a weapon on the premises of an alcoholic beverage license or permit holder if the person is participating in an authorized historical reenactment.
