Current law provides exceptions to rules applicable to an ordinary civil suit in an appeal from a cancellation, suspension, or refusal of a license or permit for the sale of alcoholic beverages, including a private club registration permit. Under previous law, one of those exceptions required the case to be tried before a judge within 10 days from the date it is filed. House Bill 1956 amends the Alcoholic Beverage Code to extend to within 20 days of filing of the appeal the deadline by which the case must be tried before a judge.
