House Bill 2270 amends the Government Code to authorize the governing body of a municipality to give a municipal court of record civil jurisdiction to enforce health and safety and nuisance abatement ordinances relating to dangerous structures and junked vehicles and concurrent jurisdiction with a district or county court at law in enforcing municipal health and safety ordinances in the municipality's territory or any of its property located in the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction. The bill establishes that the court has the authority to issue a search warrant to investigate a health and safety or nuisance abatement ordinance violation and to issue a seizure warrant to remove offending property and debris from a premises.
