House Bill 2516, the Chris Larkin ALS Act, amends the Insurance Code to require an entity that offers coverage under a Medicare supplement benefit plan to individuals 65 years of age or older to offer the same coverage to individuals younger than 65 years of age who are eligible for and enrolled in Medicare by reason of end stage renal disease or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The bill establishes restrictions on the premium rates that may be charged for a Medicare supplement benefit plan offered under that requirement and sets out provisions regarding the enrollment period for eligible individuals.
