House Bill 2738 amends the Government Code to require the Department of Information Resources to conduct a study and submit a report identifying legacy systems currently maintained by state agencies other than institutions of higher education. The bill requires the study to include certain elements, including an inventory of computer systems or application programs that are operated with obsolete or inefficient hardware or software technology. The bill requires the report to include recommendations for modernization of legacy systems.
