            House Bill 2916 amends the Code of Criminal Procedure to require a claimant who is entitled to file a claim for crime victims' compensation based on criminally injurious conduct in violation of criminal homicide provisions to file such an application not later than three years after the date the identity of the victim is established by a law enforcement agency. The bill authorizes the attorney general to award crime victims' compensation for pecuniary loss arising from criminally injurious conduct that occurred before January 1, 1980, if the conduct was criminal homicide, if the identity of the victim is established by a law enforcement agency on or after January 1, 2009, and the pecuniary loss was incurred with respect to the victim's funeral or burial on or after that date, and if the claimant files the application for crime victims' compensation within the specified three-year period.
