House Bill 423 amends the Transportation Code to require a medical examiner or justice of the peace acting as coroner to submit a report in writing to the Texas Department of Public Safety of the death of a person that was the result of a traffic accident to which the law governing accidents and accident reports applies and that occurred within the jurisdiction of the medical examiner or justice of the peace in the preceding calendar quarter. The bill provides that the report must be submitted before the 11th day of each calendar month and include certain information and requires the report to be sent to one of two specified department destinations. The bill requires the medical examiner or justice of the peace to take certain actions if toxicological test results are not available on the date a report must be submitted and requires the department to prepare the necessary report forms.
