Current law requires, for purposes of assisting in the administration of the laws regarding child support enforcement and services, each state licensing authority to request and each applicant for a state license to provide, with certain exceptions, the applicant's social security number. House Bill 821 amends the Family Code and the Parks and Wildlife Code to specify that an applicant for a fishing or hunting license who is 13 years of age or younger is not required to provide the applicant's social security number, the Parks and Wildlife Department is not required to request the number, and the Parks and Wildlife Commission is prohibited from adopting rules requiring such an applicant to provide the number.
