House Bill 888 amends the Health and Safety Code to extend from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the first succeeding business day the time until which a person accepted by a mental health facility for a preliminary mental health examination may be detained if the 48-hour maximum custody period ends on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday or before 4 p.m. on the first succeeding business day.
