House Bill 993 amends the Transportation Code to authorize a firefighter employed by or a member of an emergency services district, a volunteer fire department, or a general-law municipality to close one or more lanes of a road or highway to protect the safety of persons or property when performing official duties. The bill places limitations on the lane closures and requires the deployment of emergency vehicles that meet certain requirements.
