House Joint Resolution 36 proposes an amendment to the state constitution to permit a state justice or judge who reaches the mandatory age of retirement while in office to complete the justice's or judge's current term. The proposed amendment would include an exception for a justice or judge elected to serve or fill the remainder of a six-year term who reaches the age of 75 years during the first four years of the term, in which case the office would become vacant on December 31 of the fourth year of that six-year term.
