The Other Events trust fund helps qualifying counties or municipalities to attract certain major athletic events. Senate Bill 1038 expands the list of eligible events to include a national collegiate championship of an amateur sport sanctioned by the entity recognized as the national governing body of the sport by the United States Olympic Committee and an Olympic activity, including a junior or senior activity, training program, or feeder program sanctioned by the United States Olympic Committee's Community Olympic Development Program. The bill removes the provision limiting eligibility to be an endorsing county to counties with a population of one million or more. It also eliminates the January 1, 2007, expiration date for the law creating the fund.
