Senate Bill 1599 amends the Government Code to entitle the Court Reporters Certification Board to obtain from the Department of Public Safety (DPS) criminal history record information maintained by DPS that relates to a person who is an applicant for or the holder of a certification issued by the board. The bill sets forth the authorized uses of such information, prohibits the release or disclosure of the information with certain exceptions, and requires the information to be destroyed after its use.
