Current law requires the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), when the TCEQ receives applicable notice or obtains independent knowledge of groundwater contamination, to make every effort to give notice of the contamination by first class mail to applicable entities. Senate Bill 1663 amends the Water Code to include among those entities the residents of each residential address within one mile of the contamination site and to provide for alternative notice delivery methods.
