Senate Bill 2065 amends and repeals provisions of the Business & Commerce Code, Finance Code, Government Code, Health and Safety Code, Insurance Code, Labor Code, Occupations Code, and Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes to update and eliminate certain regulations and licensing requirements relating to vehicle protection products; notaries public; a certificate of authority for the over-the-counter sale of certain substances; attorney's title insurance companies and title attorneys; an emergency managing general agent license; temporary common worker employers; for-profit legal service contract companies; plumbing; barbering and cosmetology; volunteer security services; a bingo unit manager license; an agricultural, industrial, and wildlife control fireworks permit; motor vehicle towing, booting, and storage; certain local transportation entities and contracts; and the registration of trademarks. The bill requires the comptroller of public accounts to prepare and submit to the legislature a biennial report regarding all required state occupational licenses.
Senate Bill 2065 takes effect September 1, 2017, except the bill's provisions relating to motor vehicle towing, booting, and storage take effect June 15, 2017, unless otherwise provided by the bill, and the bill's provisions relating to for-profit legal service contract companies take effect September 1, 2019.
