Senate Bill 2155 amends the Occupations Code to revise provisions throughout the Veterinary Licensing Act, including provisions relating to the following:
Senate Bill 2155 authorizes the TBVME or its executive director, upon determining that an emergency exists requiring immediate action to protect the public health and safety, to issue an emergency order to either suspend or revoke an authorization issued under a program regulated by the TBVME or halt operation of an unsafe veterinary medical facility. The bill restricts the practice of veterinary medicine to in or from a veterinary medical facility that is registered with the TBVME or that is exempted by rule from registration; requires, unless otherwise exempted, every individual facility to be registered with the TBVME; and requires the TBVME to adopt and enforce rules relating to standards of operation of veterinary medical facilities.
Except as otherwise provided by the bill, Senate Bill 2155 takes effect September 1, 2025.
