Senate Bill 266 amends Property Code provisions relating to deadlines for notices required in connection with a mechanic's lien. The bill clarifies the deadline by which the holder of a mechanic's lien is required to file with the appropriate county tax assessor-collector's office a copy of the lien notice sent to the owner of the motor vehicle and each lien holder recorded on the certificate of title as not later than the 30th day after the date on which the charges accrue. The bill changes the deadline by which the tax assessor-collector must provide a copy of the notice to the owner of the motor vehicle and each holder of a lien recorded on the motor vehicle's certificate of title from the 10th day after the date the county tax assessor-collector receives the notice and required information to the 15th business day after that date. The bill specifies that notices required in connection with a mechanic's lien apply regardless of the date on which the charges on which the lien is based accrued.
