Senate Bill 490 amends the Education Code to include among the information about postsecondary education a school counselor must provide to a student and the student's parent or guardian information regarding the availability of education and training vouchers and tuition and fee waivers to attend an institution of higher education for a student who is or was previously in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services. The bill includes among the contents of a school district's annual performance report the number of school counselors providing counseling services at each campus and requires the commissioner of education to require each district and open‑enrollment charter school to report through the Public Education Information Management System certain information regarding the availability of school counselors at each campus.
