            Senate Bill 56 amends the Code of Criminal Procedure to require a judge or magistrate to give reasonable notice to the prosecuting attorney before reducing the bail of a defendant charged with certain serious offenses.  The bill also requires the judge or magistrate, on request of the prosecuting attorney, the defendant, or the defendant's counsel, to provide an opportunity for a hearing on the proposed bail reduction.
