            Senate Bill 827 amends the Government Code to require the secretary of state to establish and maintain systems for identifying colonias and for tracking the progress of state-funded projects that benefit colonias and to submit a related report to the presiding officer of each house of the legislature not later than December 1 of each even-numbered year.  The bill amends the Government Code, Health and Safety Code, and Water Code to require the Office of Rural Community Affairs, colonia ombudsmen in each of the six border counties, the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, the Department of State Health Services, the Texas Transportation Commission, and the Texas Water Development Board to provide specified information to assist the secretary of state in preparing the report.
