Senate Bill 937 amends the Utilities Code to require an electric utility to give a nursing facility, an assisted living facility, and a facility that provides hospice services the same priority that it gives to a hospital in the utility's emergency operations plan for restoring power after an extended outage. The bill requires the Public Utility Commission of Texas to adopt rules under this provision and sets out reporting requirements relating to a municipally owned utility and an electric cooperative's emergency operations plans for restoring power to such a facility.
