SENATE BILL 938 |
SENATE AUTHOR: Ellis et al. |
EFFECTIVE: 09-01-97 |
HOUSE SPONSOR: Coleman |
Under previous law, an organization that contracted with the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children was required to provide services during the evening hours or on Saturdays. Senate Bill 938 amends the Health and Safety Code to require such organizations to provide services each month during extended hours as defined by the Texas Department of Health. The department is required to adopt guidelines for extended hours and is prohibited from granting a waiver for longer than two years. Each organization is required to include certain information relating to expanded hours in its annual plan but is not required to offer extended hours at each of its service sites.
