A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the amount by which the salary of an official district
1-3 court reporter may be increased.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 52.051(d), Government Code, is amended to
1-6 read as follows:
1-7 (d) The official district court reporter may not receive:
1-8 (1) a salary that is more than 10 percent greater than
1-9 the salary received during the preceding budget year without the
1-10 approval of the commissioners court of each county in the judicial
1-11 district if the court reporter serves in a county with a population
1-12 of less than 1 million; or
1-13 (2) a percentage increase in salary in a fiscal year
1-14 that is greater than the average percentage increase in
1-15 compensation in that fiscal year to all other employees of the
1-16 county in which the reporter serves if the court reporter serves in
1-17 a county with a population of 1 million or more.
1-18 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
1-19 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-20 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-21 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-22 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-23 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
