1-19 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-20 AN ACT
1-21 relating to the amount by which the salary of an official district
1-22 court reporter may be increased.
1-23 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-24 SECTION 1. Section 52.051(d), Government Code, is amended to
1-25 read as follows:
1-26 (d) The official district court reporter may not receive:
1-27 (1) a salary that is more than 10 percent greater than
1-28 the salary received during the preceding budget year without the
1-29 approval of the commissioners court of each county in the judicial
1-30 district if the court reporter serves in a county with a population
1-31 of less than 1 million; or
1-32 (2) a percentage increase in salary in a fiscal year
1-33 that is greater than the average percentage increase in
1-34 compensation in that fiscal year to all other employees of the
1-35 county in which the reporter serves if the court reporter serves in
1-36 a county with a population of 1 million or more.
1-37 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
1-38 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-39 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-40 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-41 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-42 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
