                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to disqualification from participation in public school
    1-3  extracurricular activities.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Section 21.920(d), Education Code, as
    1-6  redesignated and amended by Section 1, Chapter 735, Acts of the
    1-7  69th Legislature, Regular Session, 1985, is amended to read as
    1-8  follows:
    1-9        (d)  A student may <not> be suspended under this section
   1-10  during the <period in which school is recessed for the summer or
   1-11  during the> initial grade reporting period of a regular school term
   1-12  on the basis of grades received in the final grade reporting period
   1-13  of the preceding regular school term.
   1-14        SECTION 2.  Section 21.920(d), Education Code, as added by
   1-15  Section 1, Part F, Article IV, Chapter 28, Acts of the 68th
   1-16  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, 1984, is repealed.
   1-17        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-18  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-19  emergency   and   an   imperative   public   necessity   that   the
   1-20  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-21  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
