Section 61.001, Government Code, is amended by 1-25 adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: 1-26 (e) A reimbursement for expenses under this section is not a 1-27 property right of a juror or prospective juror for purposes of 1-28 Chapters 72 and 74, Property Code. If a check or other instrument 1-29 representing a reimbursement under this section is not presented 1-30 for payment or redeemed before the 90th day after it is issued: 1-31 (1) the instrument is considered forfeited and is 1-32 void; and 1-33 (2) the money represented by the instrument may be 1-34 placed in the county's jury fund, the county's general fund, or any 1-35 other fund in which county funds can be legally placed, at the 1-36 discretion of the commissioners court. 1-37 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the 1-38 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-39 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-40 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-41 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-42 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 1-43 passage, and it is so enacted. 1-44 * * * * * 1-45 Austin, 1-46 Texas 1-47 April 15, 1993 1-48 Hon.
