A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the notice required to be given of the fees charged for
1-3 the services of a sheriff or constable.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 118.131(f), Local Government Code, is
1-6 amended to read as follows:
1-7 (f) On or before October 15 of each year, the commissioners
1-8 court shall provide written notice of the amounts of the fees set
1-9 under this section to the comptroller. Before December 15 of each
1-10 year, the comptroller shall compile the fee information provided by
1-11 counties and send the compilation to:
1-12 (1) the commissioners court of each county in this
1-13 state;
1-14 (2) any statewide association of counties or of
1-15 officers of counties that requests in writing before December 15
1-16 <September 30> to be informed; and
1-17 (3) the State Bar of Texas.
1-18 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the
1-19 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-20 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-21 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-22 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-23 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
1-24 passage, and it is so enacted.
