A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to counties eligible for specific information logo signs
1-3 along interstate highways.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 4.07(b), Chapter 741, Acts of the 67th
1-6 Legislature, Regular Session, 1981 (Article 4477-9a, Vernon's Texas
1-7 Civil Statutes), is amended to read as follows:
1-8 (b) The commission shall contract with a person, firm,
1-9 group, or association in the State of Texas to erect and maintain
1-10 signs that give specific information of interest to the travelling
1-11 public, including specific brand names, at appropriate locations
1-12 along interstate highways in each county with a population less
1-13 than 100,000, according to the most recent federal census <20,000>.
1-14 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
1-15 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-16 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-17 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-18 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-19 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
