    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to the issuance of specially designed license plates for
    1-3  vehicles owned by certain veterans of military service and
    1-4  surviving spouses of certain veterans.
    1-5        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-6        SECTION 1.  Section 5k(g), Chapter 88, General Laws, Acts of
    1-7  the 41st Legislature, 2nd Called Session, 1929 (Article 6675a-5k,
    1-8  Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is amended to read as follows:
    1-9        (g)  A vehicle for which Pearl Harbor license plates or<,>
   1-10  Purple Heart license plates are issued under this section is exempt
   1-11  from the motor vehicle registration fee imposed by Section 5 of
   1-12  this Act and any additional county fee imposed under Section 9a of
   1-13  this Act.
   1-14        SECTION 2.  Section 5k(n), Chapter 88, General Laws, Acts of
   1-15  the 41st Legislature, 2nd Called Session, 1929 (Article 6675a-5k,
   1-16  Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is repealed.
   1-17        SECTION 3.  The change in law made by this Act in the fees
   1-18  required for the issuance of certain license plates applies only to
   1-19  fees for the issuance or renewal of license plates on or after the
   1-20  effective date of this Act.
   1-21        SECTION 4.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-22  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-23  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-24  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
    2-1  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
    2-2  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
    2-3  passage, and it is so enacted.
