                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to the cleaning and labeling of a removable oral
    1-3  prosthetic appliance belonging to a resident of a nursing home or
    1-4  custodial care home.
    1-5        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-6        SECTION 1.  Subchapter F, Chapter 242, Health and Safety
    1-7  Code, is amended by adding Section 242.1605 to read as follows:
    1-8        Sec. 242.1605.  REMOVABLE ORAL PROSTHETIC APPLIANCES.  (a)
    1-9  The department shall require each nursing home or custodial care
   1-10  home to have ultrasonic cleaners available to clean on a daily
   1-11  basis each removable oral prosthetic appliance belonging to a
   1-12  resident of the home.
   1-13        (b)  A nursing home or custodial care home shall label a
   1-14  resident's removable oral prosthetic appliance at the time the
   1-15  resident enters the home.
   1-16        SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
   1-17        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-18  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-19  emergency   and   an   imperative   public   necessity   that   the
   1-20  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-21  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
