                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to exempting producers of fruits and vegetables from a
    1-3  prohibition on placing a sign on a public road right-of-way.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Chapter 834, Acts of the 68th Legislature,
    1-6  Regular Session, 1983 (Article 2372cc, Vernon's Texas Civil
    1-7  Statutes), is amended by adding Section 7 to read as follows:
    1-8        Sec. 7.  APPLICABILITY.  This Act does not apply to a person
    1-9  who produces fruits or vegetables and who advertises the person's
   1-10  own produce for sale.
   1-11        SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act applies to any
   1-12  offense committed in which there has not been a final conviction
   1-13  entered before the effective date of this Act.
   1-14        SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
   1-15        SECTION 4.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-16  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-17  emergency   and   an   imperative   public   necessity   that   the
   1-18  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-19  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
