                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to the requirement that the assistant treasurer of a rural
    1-3  fire prevention district execute and file a bond.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Section 794.036(b), Health and Safety Code, is
    1-6  amended to read as follows:
    1-7        (b)  The treasurer and assistant treasurer must each execute
    1-8  and file with the county clerk a bond conditioned on the faithful
    1-9  execution of the treasurer's duties.  The treasurer and assistant
   1-10  treasurer of a district located in more than one county shall file
   1-11  each <the> bond with the county clerk of the county with the
   1-12  largest population in the district.  The county judge of the county
   1-13  in which the bonds are <bond is> to be filed must determine the
   1-14  amount and sufficiency of each <the> bond before it is filed.
   1-15        SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
   1-16        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-17  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-18  emergency   and   an   imperative   public   necessity   that   the
   1-19  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-20  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
