                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to the election of and appointments to fill vacancies on
    1-3  the board of directors of certain hospital districts.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Chapter 411, Acts of the 58th Legislature,
    1-6  Regular Session, 1963, is amended by adding Section 3A to read as
    1-7  follows:
    1-8        Sec. 3A.  (a)  A director's election shall be held on the
    1-9  first Saturday in May in each year for the election of the
   1-10  appropriate number of successor directors.
   1-11        (b)  A vacancy in the office of director shall be filled for
   1-12  the unexpired term by appointment by the remaining directors.
   1-13        SECTION 2.  Chapter 539, Acts of the 63rd Legislature,
   1-14  Regular Session, 1973, is amended by adding Section 3A to read as
   1-15  follows:
   1-16        Sec. 3A.  (a)  A director's election shall be held on the
   1-17  first Saturday in May in each year for the election of the
   1-18  appropriate number of successor directors.
   1-19        (b)  A vacancy in the office of director shall be filled for
   1-20  the unexpired term by appointment by the remaining directors.
   1-21        SECTION 3.  Chapter 666, Acts of the 64th Legislature, 1975,
   1-22  is amended by adding Section 3A to read as follows:
   1-23        Sec. 3A.  (a)  A director's election shall be held on the
   1-24  first Saturday in May in each year for the election of the
    2-1  appropriate number of successor directors.
    2-2        (b)  A vacancy in the office of director shall be filled for
    2-3  the unexpired term by appointment by the remaining directors.
    2-4        SECTION 4.  Chapter 667, Acts of the 64th Legislature, 1975,
    2-5  is amended by adding Section 3A to read as follows:
    2-6        Sec. 3A.  (a)  A director's election shall be held on the

    2-8  appropriate number of successor directors.
    2-9        (b)  A vacancy in the office of director shall be filled for
   2-10  the unexpired term by appointment by the remaining directors.
   2-11        SECTION 5.  Chapter 668, Acts of the 64th Legislature, 1975,
   2-12  is amended by adding Section 3A to read as follows:
   2-13        Sec. 3A.  (a)  A director's election shall be held on the
   2-14  first Saturday in May in each year for the election of the
   2-15  appropriate number of successor directors.
   2-16        (b)  A vacancy in the office of director shall be filled for
   2-17  the unexpired term by appointment by the remaining directors.
   2-18        SECTION 6.  The importance of this legislation and the
   2-19  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   2-20  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   2-21  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   2-22  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   2-23  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   2-24  passage, and it is so enacted.
